September is thirty-four public events across twenty-one days, which makes it the fullest month on the 2026 calendar. That surprises people. September is still hot, still wet, still officially hurricane season, and the snowbirds are weeks away. The city's programme does not wait for them.
The month has two anchors. Songwriter Fest runs four days, the 18th to the 22nd, spread across venues throughout Cape Coral with a kickoff at the Nauti Mermaid on the 18th and pregame sessions on the 19th and 20th. And on Labor Day weekend the Manatee Man Triathlon takes over The Westin at Marina Village on the 6th, with sprint and international distance triathlons, duathlons and an aquabike.
The other thing September does is remember. The Field of Flags goes up at Bernice Braden Park on the 7th, the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony is at City Hall on the morning of the 11th, and there is a Suicide Prevention Awareness 3K Walk on the 12th. Three sombre occasions in six days, which is unusual for this calendar.
The ones worth planning around
- Songwriter Fest, Friday 18 to Tuesday 22 September, venues throughout Cape Coral: The kickoff is at the Nauti Mermaid dockside bar and grill at 5:30pm on the 18th, pregame sessions run at noon on the 19th and 20th, and the festival proper runs from 6pm on the 21st and 22nd.
- Manatee Man Triathlon, Sunday 6 September, 7:15am, The Westin Cape Coral at Marina Village: Labor Day weekend. Sprint and international distance triathlons, duathlons and an international aquabike. The sprint is a quarter mile swim, ten mile bike and 3.1 mile run.
- 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, Friday 11 September, 8:30am, City Hall: At 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard. The Field of Flags at Bernice Braden Park goes up on the 7th, ahead of it.
- Full Moon Paddle and Full Moon Walk, Saturday 26 September, 6:45pm, Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve: The pair the preserve runs on most full moons, one on the boardwalk and one on the water, both guided and both after dark.
- Wild Edibles Walk, Wednesday 16 September, 10am, Rotary Park: One of the more unusual things the park runs, and it appears only once in the whole year.

Before you go
This page was built on 4 September 2026, from an export taken that day. The city adds events through the month, so late September entries may be missing here. The page is rebuilt whenever a newer export lands.
Rotary Park is the busiest venue of the month. Bargains on the 5th, the Friends of Wildlife meeting on the 8th, the fairy garden class on the 15th, the wild edibles walk on the 16th, butterfly garden design on the 18th, the gardening series on the 19th, a nature seminar on the 24th and a bird walk on the 29th. Eight separate things in one park.
Songwriter Fest is spread out, not in one place. The listing says throughout Cape Coral rather than naming a venue for the main days. Check the organiser's programme for which bars and rooms are taking part before you plan an evening.

Event details come from the City of Cape Coral's public calendar export and are accurate as published there. City commission meetings, bid openings and code compliance hearings are on that calendar too and are deliberately not listed here. Organisers change and cancel events, so check with the venue before travelling. C&K Realty is not an organiser of, and is not affiliated with, any event listed here.
