Part of the freshwater canal system. Fine for kayaks, small craft and fishing. But there is no boat route to the Gulf, by design. Locks and weirs separate the two systems.
The lot sits far enough from the water, or close enough to a freshwater/saltwater boundary, that we will not guess. 13 addresses land here, down from 637 after we walked the whole list by hand in August 2026. We check those by hand.

Does "gulf access" mean I can get a sailboat out?
Not necessarily, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. Our classification says whether there are fixed bridges on the route to open water, and what the lowest one measures. It says nothing about water depth, your draft, or overhead power lines. We hold no data on any of those. A canal with no bridges is what most people mean by "sailboat access," but confirm depth and clearance for the specific boat you own before you buy.
Why does your map stop at the river instead of the Gulf?
Because that's where our data stops, and we'd rather say so. Routes here end at the Caloosahatchee River or Matlacha Pass. Getting from there to the Gulf means passing under the Cape Coral Bridge (55 ft), the Midpoint Memorial Bridge and the Sanibel Causeway, none of which are in the City's bridge layer. If we counted "3 bridges to the Gulf" we'd be leaving out the three spans most likely to stop a tall boat.
My neighbour is on the same canal but you gave us different answers.
That happens, and it's usually correct. About twenty canals in Cape Coral are split by a lock or weir: Shaughnessey at Chiquita Blvd, Courtney at Mohawk Pkwy, Mackinac at SE 9th St and others. One side is saltwater with a route out; the other is freshwater with none. The boundary can run between two neighbouring houses. If your result looks wrong for the street, tell us. We check those by hand.
How accurate is the lot location?
We use the City's own address points, which are anchored to the parcel rather than interpolated along the street. Across 37,986 waterfront addresses, not one sits closer than 10 metres to a freshwater/saltwater disagreement. Where a lot is close to a boundary, or far enough from the water that we can't be confident, we return "Verify with us" instead of guessing. That was 637 addresses; we reviewed every one of them by hand in August 2026 and settled all but 13.
Is this a substitute for a survey?
No, and it is not navigational guidance. Do not run a boat off it. The outlines are simplified for web display and the source data carries its own caution that it is not for precise measurement.
